Some people view the resurrection, perhaps even the whole of religion as a Get-out-of-jail-free card or life insurance. When I die, God will bring me into heaven.
But this is only part of the story.
Since all things die, we know that our bodies will die also. But as followers of Christ, we can fearlessly face death, even our own death. Thus the resurrection becomes for us life assurance. Assuring us that we might dare to experience life fully. We need not let past misadventures rule our future for the resurrection proves that in Christ Jesus our old lives are gone and a new life has begun. We can begin living Eternal life today!
Every few days news reports will tell of a firefighter, soldier, or police officer who had selflessly risked their life or gone beyond what their job expects, physically demonstrating their selfless love of community and country. I am also inspired by retirees who mentor young adults, become active volunteers in their community, or put their years of experience into new and exciting endeavors.
Who has inspired you to live life to the fullest?
I will have more to say about John 20:1-19 on Easter Sunday, March 27th, 2016 at both the 8:15 am and 10 am worship services at Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church.
Please bring a stemmed flower to place in our cross.
We will have an Easter Egg hunt following the 10 am worship service.
