“I don’t need to go to church to worship God.”
I admire the passion of people who do worship without going to church. But having passion for God without church is like having colors without walls to paint them on, having flavors without food or drink, or like playing music alongside other people playing different songs. Without the structure of church, individuals are easily distracted and scattered by the winds of cultural changes.
Corporate worship provides a foundation upon which to build walls that provide shelter in our constantly changing culture. Corporate worship transforms a simple meal of bread and wine into a mystery that allows believers to taste and see that the LORD is good. Corporate worship coordinates the music of diverse people into a harmonious whole.
I will have more to say about corporate worship and Luke 19:45-48 on Sunday, November 1st at Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church.
