30 Days with the Belhar Confession

We Presbyterians do not have one statement of faith, but twelve. These creeds, confessions, and catechisms affirm how the Church has responded to various cultural changes and trials. We continue to use these confessions in our worship, teaching, and practices. For example, the oldest confessions — the Nicene Creed (adopted in AD 325) and the Apostles’ Creed (developed in the 2nd through 8th centuries) — we use regularly especially when celebrating the Lord’s Supper or Baptism (respectively).

In June 2016 the Presbyterian Church, after four years of study and debate, adopted the Belhar Confession.

Beginning on January 1st, 2018 Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church will allow the Belhar Confession to guide our daily prayers and devotions to God. For the next 30 days we will post a portion of the confession and verse or two of Scripture and the on this website and on our Facebook page.  A daily devotional for personal study is available for members and participants. Sermons on January 7th, 14th, and 21st will be guided by the major themes of this Confession: Unity, Reconciliation, and Justice.

May the Belhar Confession guide and challenge your faith to grow as we seek to follow our Lord Jesus Christ.
