Forgiveness as Healing

How many friends do you have who would take you from your bed and carry you to someone else’s home, make a hole in that other person’s roof, and you would trust them to lower you through that hole so you could be healed of what harms you?

Word of Jesus’ ability to teach and heal people had spread quickly so whenever he came to a town people quickly gathered around him, making access to him difficult at best. In one town a few men had so much faith in Jesus they brought their friend to him. But the crowd would not let them in through any of the doors. So they cut a hole in the roof and lowered their friend down to Jesus. Jesus did not cast out a demon like other faith healers, he forgave the man’s sins and then told him to get up and walk.

I am convinced that the sins we carry with us through life can adversely affect our physical health as well as our spiritual health.

I will have more to say about Luke 5:17-26 and forgiveness as healing at 8:15 AM and 10:00 AM on Sunday March 4th, at Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church.

A Tip for Parents

Jeremiah had a message from God:

Here is the new agreement that I, the LORD, will make with the people of Israel:
I will write my laws on their hearts and minds.
I will be their God, and they will be my people.

But how can you tell what is written on your heart? Do you use a stethoscope? or an x-ray? or …? No we can only tell what God has written on our hearts by how we act. So it is very important that every day we show kindness and forgiveness to people around us.
