Our Interim Pastor, Rev. John H. Hougen, comes to us from Iowa after serving over 30 years.
“I have served in three calls: Bigfork and Effie, Minnesota; Phillipsburg, Kansas; and Independence, Iowa. I am married with 4 grown children and we welcomed our first grandchild on this past Thanksgiving Day. I enjoy playing golf, barbecue, being with friends and family, and Walt Disney World. I am a people person and enjoy being with and working with people. I love new ideas and striving to be more effective in communicating the love of God to people. Community involvement is a key. You will hear me ask this question: How are we are adding value to the community we are in? The world needs to be a better place because we are here. I have a sense of humor, I’m easy to get along with, and I will look forward to conversations with my new friends at Temple Terrace. The best description I have heard about the task of interim ministry is this: together we will look in the mirror and out the window. My role is to get you ready for your next installed pastor. I have the skills to do that. And I believe we will enjoy each other along the way.”
